Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Campaign Victory at City University of New York (CUNY)

The union of teachers, administrators and technicians of CUNY, has just adopted a resolution in support of the struggle of the Palestinian people, paving the way for the adoption of the campaign for BDS by the prestigious establishment.

The executive body of the Professional Staff Congress (PSC), which has 30,000 members, vigorously denounces the crimes of the colonial state, a first in the climate of terror and witch-hunts exercised by the apartheid lobby. (more…)

International Group of Jews calls on Jewish institutions to remove Isreali Flag

More than 100 Jews signed a declaration calling on synagogues and Jewish institutions to remove the Israeli flag. “Like the Israeli human rights group B’Tselem and the famous international organization Human Rights Watch, we view the Israeli government as an apartheid state. Apartheid has been an international crime since the 1970s. It is offensive to see Jewish communal spaces brandish the emblem of a criminal system ” they write.

We specifically compare the Israeli flag to the secessionist Southern Confederate flag as an emblem of an unjust system, a flag the display of which is now viewed by most people as deleterious support for racism. Daniel Jadue is the Palestinian candidate for Chile’s presidency


Chile is home to half a million Palestinians, including Daniel’s parents who trace their roots to the Palestinian town of Beit Jala

Daniel Jadue is looking around his office for a photo album. I asked him about how he became the mayor of Recoleta, a municipality of Chile’s capital Santiago, and about his run for the presidency. He became distracted. He wanted to show me something. We had stumbled onto the fact that Daniel comes from a Palestinian family, and that he had spent a part of his youth working with the General Union of Palestinian Students. He opens a cupboard, looks in a drawer, and then, fortunately, finds what he has been searching for – an album with a treasure trove of clippings and pictures. The one he is eager to show me is of his dabke troupe. There’s Daniel, the leader of the troupe, dancing to the beat of a culture that resonates in his heart. (more…)

Palestine: A petition demanding the resignation of Mahmoud Abbas

Political, cultural and academic figures inside and outside the Palestinian Territories have launched an online petition to express their anger at the President of the Palestinian Authoy. It already has more than 2,000 signatures.

Without being able to translate it into a political act as the Israelis have just done, the Palestinians, for their part, express that they are fed up with their leader, the President of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas. In unequivocal terms, an online petition already signed by more than 2,000 calls for “removing Mahmoud Abbas from the leadership of the PLO, Fatah and of course the Palestinian Authority.” (more…)
